The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Sass dai Ciamorces, in the Sella Range, features a great technically satisfactory and very scenic hike. The view is definitely enchanting during the whole tour. The climb, pretty demanding in some sections, develops through motley and particularly evocative landscapes. The varied and fun descent is the fitting end of this nice tour in the Dolomites.
The excursion starts from Passo Gardena. Heading south we climb up on the sweet slope of Col de Frea and we reach the entrance of Val Culea. In increasing declivity the climb proceeds until, skis on our back, we face a narrow and very steep coilour.
After reaching the plain that leads to Alta Val Culea we cross the col and we go down through the beautiful Valun del Pisciadù. Going back up towards Sella di Pisciadù. We are now right under Mount Sass dai Ciamorces and we reach the peak through a last comfortable stretch.
The thrilling descent can take place through different possible routes that will all bring us back to the starting point.
The ski mountaineering excursion to Sass dai Ciamorces features a 1200 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as OSA (Excellent Mountain Skier). Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
